Sniglets

This strange-looking small creature is also a member of the pig family. Large herds of Sniglets are found on the Sarabetty plains where one also finds Bungalos and Boodles. Since Sniglet Bar-B-Que is extremely tasty and popular, Sniglets also are raised commercially. They graze by tearing off clumps of grass with their diminutive, elephant-like noses, using them to stuff the grass into their mouths. Except for the long nose, they look similiar to a common pig.

When alarmed, they sneet through their noses with a sound like a hysterical kazoo. This sound causes every Sniglet within earshot to stampede across the prairie in paniced flight. Our biologists had an opportunity to observe one such episode.

A wild Fat, which looks very much like a large fox, was trying to lure a baby Sniglet away from the safety of the herd and his mother. The clever Fat hid behind a small tree where it put both front paws into its mouth and tried to make soft "sniggy-snee" sounds like a mother Sniglet calling her baby.

The baby was suspicious, but came nearer and nearer to the tree, and the clever Fat hiding behinf it.

The mother was not exactly stupid, however, and recognized the false "snortty sniggy" nonsense for what it was: mortal danger!

The mother Sniglet let out a frantic sneet, other Sniglets took up the cry, and finally the entire herd jumped straight up like someone who has almost stepped on a garter snake and began hysterically sneetting with alarm.

The Fat ran for its life.
