| Flatamus These peaceful creatures live the the many shallow lakes of Chaladon where they walk on the bottom, all the while grinning at each other and enthusiastically eating lily pads. Their fat bodies look like a hippopotamus and are so buoyant they can walk without any dificulty at all, and their long goose-like necks are long enough to keep their heads out of the water almost anywhere. They seem to live happy, peaceful lives without any excitement at all.
The only real excitement around a Flatamus lake comes when a flock of ducks forgets that it is very unwise to swim too close to the back end of a feeding Flatamus. The bursting bubble tips them over and causes a great deal of outraged quacking, but this is entirely their fault because everyone knows that lily pads are extremely "gassy" food. Riptornikans sometimes tell Celadonians they are "tooting" like a Flatamus, and ask whether they have been eating Flatamus food instead of their beloved broccoli.
