Birds of Chaladon This is only a small catalog of the odd birds we have observed in Chaladon. Others will be listed as our studies progress. Twits
On the left is the clueless Great Twit, which sits in a tree all day calling: Rilly-Rilly-Rilly On the right is the even dumber Lesser Twit. It cries: Like-um, Yano-Like
 .
Snits On the left is the Red-eyed Snit, always angry at everything and everybody. To the far right is the Green-eyed Snit, that is full of envy and jealosy. Hoo Hoos We have observed three varieties of Hoo Hoo Birds: They come out mostly at night and sit in trees calling, "Hoo Hoo." They don't see very well in the dark so when they fly, they often fly right into a tree. If one listens carefully, one hears the soft "Thunk," followed by a sort of screechy "Owl." One wonders why Chaladonians didn't just name them owls like we did on earth.
Big Hoo

Yellow Hoo Hooter
Hooty Hoo Barkle Birds

On the left is shown a Barkle Dack, named no doubt because it rapidly pounds tree bark with its small pecker, making a "Dack, Dack, Dack" sound. Shown on the right is the larger Barkle Dock. With its larger pecker, it makes a deeper "Dock, Dock, Dock" sound.
Crabby Crunchers have a powerful beak they use to break into tasty nuts. It is generally considered a bad idea to try to grab one of his nuts.
Travelers along the roads frequently see Craw Craws and Dorks. Craws are similiar to Crows, but they loudly screech "Craw-Craw" instead of "Caw-Caw." All Chaladonians consider Dorks to be as dumb as a post. Many call a dumb person a "Dubya Dork," which means double dumb. Return to Home Page |
